Abstract
Choose an AI output format according to what the recipient needs to do next. Markdown can keep a source document readable and easy to review. HTML can provide a rendered working surface when the task needs comparison, navigation or interaction.
Thariq Shihipar’s author-owned HTML artifact examples demonstrate self-contained planning sheets, annotated reviews, diagrams and small editing interfaces. They show ways to present information and controls together; they do not establish that HTML improves every task or that a particular productivity gain follows.
For an analysis, review or status update, ask whether the recipient needs to read the words, compare evidence, change an assumption or export a subset. A document may be sufficient. A small HTML artifact may reduce a handoff when those actions belong together and the artifact can be checked and safely shared.
The choice includes portability, maintenance, security and accessibility. Markdown is often convenient for source-controlled prose. HTML can preserve semantic structure as well as controls; a machine consumer may need that structure or may prefer a simpler rendition. Measure the actual parser and task rather than treating either format as universally correct.
This paper provides a decision framework and implementation patterns for generated deliverables. It covers when an HTML artifact is useful, what to keep simple and what its owner must review before sharing.
